AI Triage is a Thunderbird add-on made by Karel Jung, who is responsible for the data described here. Questions or requests: aitriage@karel-jung.com.
In short: your emails are read on your computer, and only go to an AI service you choose yourself. The developer never receives your emails.
Your emails
- The add-on reads only the emails you select for a job (a triage, tagging, a summary or a reply).
- With an AI model on your computer (Ollama, LM Studio or a server on your own network), the email text stays there.
- With a cloud AI service (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini or Mistral), the text of the emails in that job is sent to that service, under its own privacy policy and the terms of your account with it. You choose which services are switched on, and the add-on shows before every job where the email text goes.
- Nothing is sent to the developer.
What stays on your computer
Your settings, API keys, tag descriptions, writing styles, the AI Logs and the time estimates are stored in your Thunderbird profile. They are not sent anywhere. AI Logs are deleted after the period you choose in Settings. Settings exports leave out API keys unless you ask to include them.
The license
- Buying: the license is sold by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the seller (merchant of record). Lemon Squeezy processes your payment, name, email address and country under its own privacy policy. The developer receives your order details (name, email address, what you bought) to provide the license and support.
- Activating a key: the add-on sends the key and a name for this computer (for example "Thunderbird 128 on macOS") to Lemon Squeezy, and checks the key again about every 30 days. No email content is sent.
- The trial: so that reinstalling does not restart the 30-day trial, the add-on sends one-way codes made from your email addresses (SHA-256 hashes, which cannot be turned back into the addresses) and the date your trial began to the add-on's trial server, run on Cloudflare. Nothing else is stored there. If you want your codes deleted, write to the address above.
This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking, and loads nothing from other companies. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse.
Emails to support
When you write to support, your message and address are kept as long as needed to help you. Please do not send private email content unless it is needed to explain a problem.
Your rights
You can ask what data about you the developer has, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted, by writing to aitriage@karel-jung.com. If you live in the European Union, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date.
